class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>El <em>Castell<\/em>, de estilo g\u00f3tico, es sin duda el atractivo tur\u00edstico m\u00e1s importante de Montesa. De posible origen \u00edbero-romano, la fortificaci\u00f3n fue gravemente da\u00f1ada en el terremoto de 1748, por lo cual en la actualidad s\u00f3lo se puede disfrutar de algunas dependencias del que en su momento fue el <em>Santo y Real Convento de la Orden de Santa Mar\u00eda de Montesa y San Jorge de Alfama<\/em>.<\/p><p>En el a\u00f1o 1317, despu\u00e9s de la supresi\u00f3n de la orden del Temple, Jaume II y el papa Juan XXII crean una nueva orden heredera directa de los bienes del Temple: <strong>la orden de Montesa<\/strong>. Por la necesidad de disponer de una milicia que pudiera proteger la frontera sur del Reino de Val\u00e8ncia, en el a\u00f1o 1319 Jaume II da la fortaleza a la nueva orden. El castillo es reconstruido y ampliado y la orden de Montesa pasa a ser la \u00fanica orden mon\u00e1stica militar del antiguo Reino de Val\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section
